CLAC Welcomes MLA as New Liaison with Private-Sector Unions

Appointment should create more access for union workers to have concerns heard

Edmonton—CLAC congratulates Searle Turton, MLA for Spruce Grove-Stony Plain, on his recent appointment by the Ministry of Labour as liaison with Alberta’s private-sector unions.

CLAC is pleased to see the Alberta government’s relaunch program taking shape as it works to create jobs and expand the economy. This appointment is a step in the right direction as it also creates more access for union workers to have their concerns heard.

“MLA Turton is a great choice for this role,” says Dennis Perrin, CLAC Prairies director. “Searle is a journeyperson carpenter and scaffolder, and has demonstrated the ability to effectively understand the concerns of working Albertans. He is clearly committed to putting more and more Albertans to work, and this move by the Alberta government demonstrates that. CLAC looks forward to working with Searle in his expanded role.”
