CLAC Stands Ready to Work with New BC Government

Langley, BC—CLAC congratulates Premier-elect Lorne Doerkson and the Conservative Party of British Columbia on forming a majority government following the October 24 provincial election.

As a non-partisan union representing thousands of skilled tradespeople and workers across British Columbia, CLAC looks forward to working constructively with the new government to support workers, strengthen communities, and help create economic opportunities throughout the province.

“British Columbia’s workers and families benefit when governments, employers, and labour organizations work together to advance economic growth, safe workplaces, and meaningful career opportunities,” says Nathan Mathews, CLAC’s Provincial Director in BC. “We look forward to engaging with the new government on issues that matter to working British Columbians.”

CLAC remains committed to advocating for fair and open tendering on publicly funded construction projects, ensuring qualified workers and contractors can compete based on merit and capability, regardless of union affiliation. Open competition helps deliver value for taxpayers while creating opportunities for skilled tradespeople across the province.

As British Columbia continues to address housing, infrastructure, and workforce challenges, CLAC is committed to being a constructive partner in building a strong, prosperous future for workers, employers, and communities.

“We look forward to working together to build a stronger future for British Columbia,” Mathews says.
