CLAC on the World Stage

With leaders elected to key global roles, CLAC strengthens its influence in advancing dignity, fairness, and justice for workers worldwide.

CLAC’s leadership presence in the global labour movement continues to grow. Executive Director Wayne Prins has been reelected to a third term as president of the World Organisation of Workers (WOW), and Andrew Regnerus, CLAC’s international representative, has been elected to the organization’s World Board. Both appointments were made during WOW’s 35th World Congress, held in Porto, Portugal, from October 8 to 10, 2025.

WOW is an international federation of more than 130 national unions representing 1.3 million workers in over 60 countries. Its members share a commitment to advancing workers’ rights, dignity, and fair treatment through collaboration, solidarity, and dialogue. CLAC has been a proud member of WOW since 2012, and its growing leadership within the organization highlights the union’s ongoing commitment to shaping global labour standards guided by respect and justice.

Wayne began his career with CLAC in 2003 as a union representative in the Fort McMurray Member Centre in Alberta. He became Alberta director in 2010 and, after earning his MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, was appointed executive director by the CLAC National Board in 2017. He was first elected WOW president in 2018 and continues to serve as a strong and principled voice in international labour forums.

Andrew has served CLAC members since 1993, based out of the Grimsby Member Centre in Ontario. He became CLAC’s Ontario construction coordinator in 2002 and, after completing an MBA at Brock University’s Goodman School of Business in 2023, was appointed as CLAC’s international representative in 2025. His election to WOW’s World Board marks an important step in bringing CLAC’s experience and perspective to the global stage.

CLAC’s growing leadership within WOW affirms its role as both a national and international advocate for fairness, respect, and meaningful work for all. CLAC congratulates Wayne and Andrew on their elections and wishes them success as they continue to advocate for workers around the world.
