Wednesday, September 2, 2020 CLAC Mourns Loss of Long-Serving Representative News CLAC is saddened to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Derek Schreiber, a long-time CLAC representative. Derek began his 29-year career with CLAC in the Mississauga Member Centre in 1991 and had worked in the Edmonton Member Centre since 1998. He was known for his passion in representing his members and his great sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His obituary can be found here. Derek is survived by Jane, his loving wife of over 30 years; children Katherine (Adam) Zacharuk and Benjamin Schreiber; parents Bertus and Alice Schreiber; siblings Sylvia (Tymen) Van Stryland, Martha Schreiber (Shiao Chong), and John Schreiber, and a large extended family. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 3, 2020, at 2 p.m. (MDT) at West End Christian Reformed Church in Edmonton. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, space will be limited. The memorial service will also be available via livestream through the church’s website. The Schreiber family invites anyone who wishes to honour Derek’s memory to make a donation to the CLAC Foundation.
