Tuesday, September 13, 2022 CLAC Congratulates Pierre Poilievre on Conservative Party Win Based on the level of support Mr. Poilievre has received, he is keenly aware of the worries and frustration experienced by Canadian workers News Cambridge, ON— CLAC is extending its congratulations to Pierre Poilievre on his landslide victory to lead the Conservative Party of Canada. Based on the level of support Mr. Poilievre has received, he is keenly aware of the worries and frustration experienced by Canadian workers, explains Wayne Prins, CLAC executive director. “We look forward to working with Mr. Poilievre and his party in addressing the concerns of working Canadians,” says Prins. “We look to him, as well as all other party leaders and the Canadian government, to address the issues that are most front of mind for CLAC’s members in the healthcare, construction, retail, and service sectors.” Many of these sectors have experienced undue hardships since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Healthcare workers across the county have been subject to low, unchanging wages for years, and the sector itself is facing a staffing crisis unseen in recent memory. Nearly 20 percent of healthcare workers have expressed their intent to leave their job within the next three years, and almost two-thirds of these workers have reported experiencing job stress or burnout. Prins went on to say, “CLAC sees this new appointment as an opportunity for meaningful discourse on the items that are of top concern to our members, and to Canadians at large.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
