Tuesday, October 2, 2018 CLAC Congratulates LNG Canada on Reaching Significant Milestone News Vancouver—CLAC and industry representatives gathered in Vancouver this morning to celebrate the announcement of a positive final investment decision (FID) for LNG Canada. The joint venture participants—Shell, PETRONAS, PetroChina, Mitsubishi Corporation, and KOGAS—have formally committed to build the long-anticipated LNG export facility near Kitimat, BC, in the traditional territory of the Haisla Nation. “On behalf of CLAC and our members, we would like to congratulate LNG Canada, and each of the joint venture participants, on reaching this significant milestone,” says Kevin Kohut, CLAC BC director. “This project will create thousands of jobs for skilled workers, and establish Canada as a key member in the global LNG industry.” The announcement of the positive FID occurs after years of planning and consultation with local communities and First Nations throughout BC. “LNG Canada has displayed tremendous commitment to building meaningful partnerships with Indigenous communities, local job creation, and responsible economic development,” says Ryan Bruce, CLAC BC manager of government relations. “This is an exciting development for our members and our province. Our members look forward to the opportunity to apply their skills to this monumental project, and contribute to the overall success of LNG Canada.” You might be interested in The Power of Asking for Help 20 Jul 2026 How to Manage an Insecure Leader 16 Jul 2026 Heat of the Moment 13 Jul 2026 The Power Within Is No Yolk! 13 Jul 2026
