CLAC Apprenticeship Support Program New Digital Platform

The CLAC Jobs, Training, and Apprenticeship Teams in Ontario have been engaging with members and employers to provide information about the services they provide. That also includes the promotion of the new CLAC Apprenticeship Support Program

In response to the demand caused by the skilled trades shortage in Ontario and the need to support individuals who are looking to start or continue their apprenticeship journey, we have provided an online, one-stop-shop for members.

Using a learning management system allows us to engage with members while providing up-to-date training and resources. We can edit content and provide feedback in real time, while also creating discussion boards to have members communicate with the CLAC Apprenticeship Team in Ontario and each other.

We have built content and collected resources that support the apprenticeship pathway from recruitment all the way to completion of the certificate of qualification exam. Members do not need to be a certain level of experience. There are four modules available, one for each phase of your journey:

  1. All about the Trades – This module is for entry-level individuals who are looking to learn more about the construction industry and trades. In this module, you’ll find information on apprenticeship, job discovery tools, and a review of the apprenticeship pathway.
  2. Starting Your Apprenticeship – This module is for first-year or entry level apprentices who have already been registered with Skilled Trades Ontario (or will be shortly). It covers information on best practices for your apprenticeship, how to register as an apprentice, and supports to further your skills.
  3. Progressing through Your Apprenticeship – This module is for experienced apprentices who are working through their on-site and in-class training. We’ve pulled together resources to help support apprentices throughout their schooling, financial support and budgeting, and mental health supports.
  4. Completing Your Apprenticeship – This module is for a journeyperson, journeyperson candidate, or someone who is looking to write their certificate of qualification exam. In this module, you’ll find information on the certificate of qualification process, exam supports, and best practices to successfully write your exam.

Are you someone who is

• navigating the apprenticeship pathway?

• on-boarded with CLAC?

• the type of person who has to be the first to do everything?

If this sounds familiar, then we want YOU! We’re looking for apprentices to join this pilot project. Connect with CLAC’s Apprenticeship Team in Ontario today to register (onapprenticeship@clac.ca).
