Wednesday, April 3, 2024 City Electric Employees Secure Outstanding Wage Increases with New Contract Locals Local 52 Ratifications Sectors Construction Vaughn, ON—Electricians employed by City Electric Inc., based in Woodbridge, Ontario, unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with outstanding wage increases and other improvements. The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52. The union has represented them since August 2017. The new contract provides electricians with a $10.64 per hour (27 percent) wage increase over the term, with total compensation package increase amounting to $15.58 per hour (32 percent). Red-circled employees will also receive the negotiated rate increases. In addition, employees will benefit from a new $200 annual boot allowance, a $15 increase to the out-of-town meal allowance, and an increase to the per kilometre rate for specified travel provisions. “City Electric is a growing company with a core group of young, talented electricians,” says Randy Parris, CLAC representative. “This is abundantly evident in the success of recently completed projects. Management was on board with both maintaining a successful culture and rewarding quality work and loyalty. The union bargaining committee was able to precisely articulate the priorities of the group. These priorities resonated with management, thus securing increases unanimously favoured by the membership.” City Electric is an electrical contractor specializing in the residential and ICI (industrial, commercial, and institutional) sectors of the construction industry throughout the GTA.
