Wednesday, November 20, 2019 Charlotte Villa Employees Unanimously Ratify Four-Year Contract Locals Local 305 Ratifications Sectors Healthcare Brantford, ON—Local 305 members employed by Revera Charlotte Villa Retirement Residence unanimously ratified a new four-year collective agreement. The 40 members employed by the retirement home have been represented by Local 305 since 2012. The new contract provides members with a two percent per year wage increase over the term. A key feature of the agreement is a change in definition for part-time employees from 45 hours to 30 hours worked biweekly. A large number of casual employees will be reclassified as a result, entitling them to pension, benefits, vacation pay, sick time, and more. “Since we became the union at Charlotte Villa, we’ve been proposing changes to the definition of a part-time employee,” says Susan Siemens, CLAC regional director. “Relying on a predominantly casual workforce is an unsustainable staffing model. We’re thankful that Revera was a willing partner in that conversation during this round of bargaining, and we’re proud of the improvements we achieved for many of our members who can now access many benefits they couldn’t before.” You might be interested in Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026 Ready to Deliver 3 Jun 2026
