Friday, December 15, 2017 Changes to Apprenticeship Grants for Employers Newsletters The Ontario government is proposing to change the current apprenticeship training tax credit (ATTC) into a new graduated apprenticeship grant for employers (GAGE). This program would encourage employers to ensure their employee apprentices complete their training by providing employers with $2,500 upon the apprentice’s completion of level one; $2,500 upon the apprentice’s completion of level two; $3,500 upon the apprentice’s completion of level three; $3,500 upon the apprentice’s completion of level four; and $4,700 upon the apprentice’s attainment of certification Additionally, the GAGE will encourage increased apprenticeship opportunities for underrepresented groups (women, Indigenous peoples, francophones, people with disabilities, newcomers, and visible minorities) by providing an additional $500 to each grant level if the apprentice belongs to one of these groups.
