Monday, January 8, 2018 Changes Coming to Class D Driver’s License in Ontario Newsletters Class D driver’s license renewals and medical requirements are changing. This will affect all Class D drivers in Ontario. Current Requirements Requirements as of July 1, 2018 License Renewal Requirements Class D license holders between the ages of 65 and 79 must take a Class D knowledge and vision test every 5 years at the time of license renewal. Class D holders over the age of 80 must take annual knowledge, vision, and road tests. All Class D license holders up to age 80 will have to take a Class D knowledge and vision test every 5 years at the time of license renewal. Class D holders over the age of 80 will still have annual knowledge, vision, and road tests. Medical Requirements Class D license holders aged 65 and older must submit a medical report annually. Class D license holders under the age of 46 will have to submit a medical report every 5 years. Class D license holders between the ages of 46 and 64 will have to submit a medical report every 3 years. Class D license holders aged 65 and older will still have to submit a medical report annually. Please note that this does not change the requirements of your air brake (Z) endorsement (applicable knowledge test upon renewal, and knowledge and physical test if you are 80 or older) or for a Class A driver’s license.
