Chambers Electrical Employees See Significant Wage Gains with New Contract
Coquitlam, BC—Local 68 members employed by Chambers Electrical Corp. ratified a four-year collective agreement providing them with significant wage increases.
Local 68 has represented the members since 1999.
The highlight of the new contract is a significant, immediate wage increase, followed by 3.5 and 3 percent increases in the second and third years, respectively, and a CPI adjustment in the fourth.
Chambers Electric employs over 150 electricians performing work on residential high-rise buildings throughout the Greater Vancouver Regional District.
“This is the largest jump in wages in recent years for Chambers employees,” says shop steward Byron Ritchie. “It gives us a competitive compensation package now and in the future. We’re happy that over 80 percent of the members voted in favour of the new contract.”
