Tuesday, September 17, 2024 Centennial Park Place Employees Unanimously Ratify New Contract Locals Local 304 Ratifications Sectors Healthcare Etobicoke, ON—The 27 Local 304 members employed by Centennial Park Place, a retirement home in Etobicoke, Ontario, unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement providing them with wage increases and other improvements. The new contract provides members with a 3.5 percent increase for all classifications effective April 15, 2023; a 3.5 percent increase for all classification effective April 15, 2024; a 50 cents per hour special adjustment for all resident attendants effective September 9, 2024; followed by a 3 percent increase for RPNs, unregulated care providers, and cooks; and a 3.5 percent increase for housekeeping, laundry, dietary, and resident attendant staff. Other improvements include an increase in employer contributions to members’ pension plan from 1 to 3 percent, increased vision care coverage, and $30,000 life insurance coverage for full-time employees. Members past the age of 70 will receive 30 cents per hour in lieu of life insurance enrolment. “We’re very happy with this excellent settlement,” says Judith Jackson, representative. “The agreement took some time to negotiate, but the union bargaining committee did a great job identifying members’ needs and securing them through negotiations.
