Monday, August 26, 2019 Celebrating Members! Contest Winners and Long-time Stewards Thank you to our stewards, and congratulations to our members who recently won CLAC contests! Newsletters Long-serving stewards Hanover School Division custodial staff stewards Victoria Tencha and Raymond Roy were acknowledged at the 2019 stewards conference in Banff last spring for their 10 years of service. Congratulations and thanks for your dedicated service! CLAC stewards are the life blood of the union, serving as your front-line representatives for issues that arise at work. Stewards go above and beyond to help you and your coworkers, and it’s often a thankless task that comes on top of their own job. We encourage you to say thanks to your steward and also to remember that they are there to serve and help you. CLAC stewards go through a lot of training so they know how to help you. Don’t be afraid to ask them. And don’t forget to thank them! Contest winners CLAC members receive extra benefits such as access to ticket draws, scholarships, and being eligible to nominate causes for a donation from CLAC as part of the union’s Building Communities programs. We will be conducting draws for tickets to see the Goldeyes throughout the season. Not a signed CLAC member yet? Ask your steward or representative and sign a membership card today! Here are Local 306 recent winners Sandi Toews and Kimberly Driedger. Summer in the City Sandi Toews, an educational assistant with the Hanover School Division, won two tickets for a concert at Steinbach’s Summer in the City. Pine Ridge School Wins $2,500 Pine Ridge School received a $2,500 donation from CLAC as part of the union’s Building Communities program. The school was nominated by Kimberly Driedger, an educational assistant employed by Garden Valley School Division. “Winkler is getting a new elementary school, as our community has been growing,” says Kimberly. “This new school will be great for the community but unfortunately, the budget does not include a playground for the students. The parents in the area have already started a committee in an effort to raise funds for a playground. This donation gets us one step closer to reaching our fundraising goals.” Heidi Martens (CLAC representative), Renae Hildebrand (principal), Kimberly Driedger (educational assistant) Hanover School Division custodial staff stewards Victoria Tencha and Raymond Roy Sandi Toews Previous Next You might be interested in Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026 Ready to Deliver 3 Jun 2026
