Cedarvale Lodge Employees Vote Overwhelmingly in Favour of Contract

Keswick, ON—On June 20, employees at Cedarvale Lodge Retirement and Care Community voted overwhelmingly in favour of renewing their collective agreement with their union, Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 304.

“This round of negotiations did take much longer and it was hard to wait, but in the end it was certainly worth it,” says bargaining committee member Nadine Brady.

The contract includes improvements to wages, healthcare benefits, vacation time, the uniform allowance, and maternity top-up, as well as access to full sick leave at the beginning of each year and changes to call-in and vacation language. In addition to the overall wage increases, specific classifications also received special increases to their hourly wage.
