Canadian Alliance Terminals Employees Overwhelmingly Ratify New Contract

Delta, BC—The 30 Local 501 members employed by Canadian Alliance Terminals Inc. voted 87 percent in favour of ratifying a three-year collective agreement providing them with strong wage gains and other improvements.

The new contract provides members with 12 percent wage increases over the three-year term (four percent per year). In addition, members received increases to employer RSP/pension contributions, an increase in the protective footwear allowance to $250 every two years, improved flexibility in booking vacations, an additional statutory holiday (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation), five days paid sick leave and three unpaid days, and extension of the afternoon shift premium by four hours. The lead-hand premium also increases from $1 per hour to $1.25.

“The bargaining committee worked hard to represent the interests of their members and negotiate a strong agreement for the next three years,” says David Jordan, representative.
