Building Communities Winners!

Twice per year, CLAC awards donations of $1,000, $1,500, or $2,500 to local causes nominated by members. All causes and amounts are selected at random from qualified nominations. Two causes nominated by Local 66 members each won a donation during draws held in December 2019.

Hope Mountain Centre for Outdoor Learning in Hope, BC, nominated by Ryan Kehler (Vedder Transport Ltd.), received a $1,000 donation. “As somebody who is an avid outdoorsman, this foundation means a lot to me,” says Ryan. “I’d like to see more people educated on the outdoors and more kids outside. The registered charity provides outdoor education and ecological awareness opportunities in the watersheds of southwest British Columbia to a wide audience. It reaches adults, families, and youth of all ages.”

Langley Hospice Society, nominated by Stanley Redford (Revolution Resource Recovery Inc.), received a $1,500 donation. “This community-based, nonprofit organization provides compassionate support to help people live with dignity and hope while coping with grief during the end of life,” says Stanley. “They truly are a gift to our community. Their grief programs are a free service to everyone and help people deal with end of life respectfully, humanely, and lovingly.”
