Locals Local 501 Newsletters BC Local 501 Twice per year (June and December), CLAC awards donations of $1,000, $1,500, or $2,500 to up to 15 local causes nominated by members. All causes and amounts are selected at random from qualified nominations. Dr. Peter Centre, nominated by Local 501 member Darren Gillis (Canucks Sports & Entertainment), won a $2,500 donation. “The Dr. Peter Centre provides day health and full time residence care for people who are living with HIV/AIDS and other health conditions,” says Darren. “This centre offers on-site nursing, counsellors, music and art therapy, as well as a morning and afternoon meal. They also operate North America’s first ever healthcare facility that incorporates an overdose prevention site into their model of care.
