Locals Local 56 Newsletters Alberta Local 56 Twice per year (June and December), CLAC awards donations of $1,000, $1,500, or $2,500 to up to 15 local causes nominated by members. All causes and amounts are selected at random from qualified nominations. The Al-Qaim Charity Foundation, nominated by Local 56 member and steward Riyaz Khawaja (Garda Security Screening Ltd.), won a $2,500 donation in the December 2021 draw. “The Al-Qaim Charity Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 2017 and run solely by volunteers,” says Riyaz. “The organization serves our community by offering food, clothing, shelter, and other necessities to those in need, including food hampers to those affected by the BC floods.
