Monday, November 2, 2020 Building Communities Is Back! Newsletters Saskatchewan Local 151 Twice per year, CLAC awards donations of $1,000, $1,500, or $2,500 to local causes nominated by members. All causes and amounts are selected at random from qualified nominations. Due to the pandemic, CLAC suspended its Building Communities program for 2020 to focus efforts on helping members. The program has resumed for 2021, and members can submit nominations for the first draw, to be held in June. Nominations are due May 15. One cause nominated by a Local 151 member won during the draw held back in December 2019. E. A. Butler All Grade Preschool in McKays, Newfoundland, won a $1,500 donation. The cause was nominated by Markoosie Hulan, who is employed by Ledcor Pipe & Infrastructure Inc. “The preschool is a fundamental, free program that gives our prekindergarten-aged children the guidance and skills to start their school journey,” says Markoosie. “The program is run by skilled volunteers who teach our children how to do the basics to begin the next steps in their futures. So many children arrive at school scared, out of sorts, and lost on all levels. This program is absolutely phenomenal in easing the children in and really making school a positive change. The donation will go toward the purchase of books, crafting materials, nutritional snacks, learning toys, and so much more.” You might be interested in Why We Work Safely 5 Jun 2026 Standing Your Ground, and Staying Steady on the Job 4 Jun 2026 CLAC Partners with Alberta Government to Advance Skilled Trades Training and Accelerate Certification 4 Jun 2026 Strathcona Mechanical Workers Ratify New Agreement Providing Wage, Scheduling Improvements 3 Jun 2026
