Brock Canada Field Services Employees Ratify New Contract with Strong Majority

Edmonton—Employees of Brock Canada Field Services Ltd. ratified a new two-year collective agreement with 86 percent voting in favour.

The 250 scaffolders and insulators covered by the agreement are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 63. The union has represented the employees since September 2008.

The new contract provides employees with wage increases of 0.6 percent on February 1 and August 1, 2020. Employer contributions to the health and welfare benefits premium will also increase to continue full employer coverage of the cost of the benefits plan. Other gains include an increase to bereavement pay and the introduction of a personal protective equipment and tool allowance of $200 per year.

“The union bargaining committee did an excellent job identifying the needs of the membership,” says Dave Vander Heide, CLAC representative. “The overwhelming support of the members in ratifying the agreement is a testament to the work they did in prioritizing those needs and reaching a negotiated settlement with the employer.”

Brock Canada Field Services provides scaffolding, insulation, rope access, abatement, facilities maintenance, and operations support to the oil and gas and other industries. Recent projects include work in Fort Saskatchewan, Redwater, Carseland, Fort McMurray, and Whitecourt.
