Borea Employees Vote Overwhelmingly in Favour of Ratifying First Contract

Calgary—Employees of Borea Construction ULC voted overwhelmingly in favour of ratifying their first collective agreement.

The 87 employees are members of Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 63.

The 2.5-year agreement provides wage increases across the board ranging between 2.2 to 8.8 percent and increased premiums and overtime benefits. It also includes the introduction of a six percent retirement package and health and welfare benefits as well as improvements to travel and living-out allowances.

“The bargaining committee, which includes two employees from Borea, did a great job” says Randy Klassen, CLAC Calgary regional director. “Their insights and determination contributed to the positive gains and overwhelming vote in favour of ratifying the agreement by the membership.”

Borea Construction specializes in building wind and solar farms and has built over 40 renewable energy projects across Canada.
