Wednesday, March 1, 2023 Benefits Premiums Reduced, Additional Coverage Secured Newsletters BC Local 68 Ontario Construction If you are covered under a CLAC benefits plan, good news! The plan’s insurance renewal delivered a surprisingly large reduction—10 percent—in employee-paid LTD premiums in 2023. There was an additional decrease of seven percent due to change in duration to the Employment Insurance (EI) sickness benefit program. We all know that LTD premiums can fluctuate year to year, but a significant all-in reduction of 17 percent is welcome news in these days of higher inflation. Additionally, there was an enhancement to the mental health services paramedical coverage. That particular group of paramedical specialists, covered at up to $600 annually, has now been increased to $1,200, effective January 1, 2023. The group of specialists in this category has also been expanded to include registered psychotherapists. The enhancements are due to an increase in need for these services. The CLAC benefits plan remains committed to providing value along with great service and coverage.
