Barrie Electricians Secure Wage, Pension, and Allowance Gains in New Marnoch Agreement

BARRIE, ON—Electricians employed by Marnoch Electrical Services Inc., an electrical contractor based in Barrie, Ontario, unanimously ratified a three-year collective agreement delivering wage increases, enhanced retirement contributions, and improved allowances.

The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52, which has represented the company’s workforce since 2011.

The 25-member group voted 100 percent in favour of the agreement and secured wage increases of nine percent over the term. The agreement also includes an increase to pension contributions and maintains strong benefits coverage.

Additional improvements include a $100 increase to the boot and clothing allowance, a $10 per hour increase to the per diem for out-of-town work, and an increase to mileage reimbursement. The agreement also includes updated contract language to reflect current workplace practices.

“The members were clear about what they wanted to achieve in this agreement,” says Josh Vanderlaan, CLAC representative. “They wanted to see an increase in their wage rates and pension contributions while maintaining the ability to keep working steady hours.”

Marnoch Electrical Services Inc., operating as Marnoch Facilities Maintenance, provides electrical contracting and maintenance services, with employees working on projects across Barrie and the surrounding region.
