Bargaining Updates

A new agreement for EnVision Community Living (Kindale Industries and Eastman Recycling Services [ERS]) was ratified February 24, 2021. Increases to wages are tied to government spending in the disability sector, which has fallen well behind inflation in recent years. The committee also navigated changes to sick time/pay, STD, and LTD programs, as well as negotiating a fair settlement for those who will be laid off when ERS closes this year.

CLAC’s first six-year agreement with Save-On-Foods expires September 30, 2022. A bargaining committee that represents each store, and various departments, has been created.

The agreement for Hanover School Division educational assistants expires August 31, 2022. Garden Valley School Division agreements (educational assistants, library technicians, school administrative assistants, and school bus drivers) expire June 30, 2022. The first steps of the bargaining process are taking place. We will be preparing to negotiate on time, but bargaining timelines might be affected due to provincial teacher bargaining. Watch for lobbying opportunities to remind our provincial government that adequate funding increases need to happen for school division employees to keep up with cost-of-living increases.
