Bandstra - It's Complicated

Local 66 members employed by Bandstra ratified a new 3-year collective agreement in May. Highlights include updated language changes and modest wage increases, as well as a revamped discipline model and a new training and mentorship program that will allow employees to upgrade their skills and learn updated policies and procedures.

“Negotiations were complex due to the various divisions within the company and the diversity of the membership,” says Quentin Steen, CLAC representative. “Diversification has kept Bandstra stronger overall, but it has its challenges in the competitive market in an industry dominated by big freight brokers.”

Currently, 260 active Local 66 members work for the Smithers, BC-based company across BC and Alberta.
