Tuesday, May 7, 2024 Bandstra Employees Vote Strongly in Favour of New Collective Agreement Locals Local 66 Smithers, BC—The 300 Local 66 members employed by Bandstra Transportation Systems Ltd. voted strongly in favour of ratifying a three-year collective agreement, with 78 percent voting in favour. The new contract provides members with base wage rate increases ranging from 2.5 to 4 percent for all locations in the first year plus increases to the regional premiums for Abbotsford, Kamloops, and Edmonton locations. Other improvements include a new night-shift premium for switch drivers and increases to the personal protective equipment allowance. In the contract’s second year, all members will receive a 2.5 percent increase to the base wage rate plus increases to the regional premiums for Abbotsford, Kamloops, Edmonton, Prince George, and the Peace River region locations. The third year of the contract provides all members with a 2.25 percent increase to the base wage rate plus increases to the regional premiums for Abbotsford, Kamloops, and Edmonton locations. The union and the company agreed to improve the benefits plan through the use of committee analysis before the end of September 2024. Also, the addition of a mechanics tool supply/replacement policy is to be drafted by committee before the end of 2024.
