Asking Questions

A key to growth and progress

By Nnedi Agu, Representative

One of the simplest but most powerful tools we have at work is this: asking questions.
It could be about your rights, a workplace policy, or a concern you’re not sure how to raise. Asking questions is how we create change and work together, and it’s often the first step toward real progress.

But let’s be honest. It isn’t always easy. Sometimes, we’re worried about being judged, we’re not sure where to start, or we just don’t know what to ask.

I’ve been there too. I’ve held back questions, wondering how they’d be received or if they were even “worth” asking.

What I’ve realized is this: asking questions isn’t only about getting answers. It’s about opening doors to understanding, connection, and personal growth.

When we ask, we learn. And when we learn, we empower both ourselves and each other.

I want to encourage all of you: don’t be afraid to stay curious. Ask the question. Start the conversation.

Depending on the situation, it might be your steward, a coworker, or a manager who can help you work through it. And if you’re ever unsure, reach out to your CLAC representative. We’re here for you!
