An Inspiring Housing Initiative

For a year and a half, dozens of Local 6 members worked on a new apartment block in Kitchener that will house 41 women experiencing or are at risk of homelessness through the YWCA’s supportive housing program.

Concrete work was provided by members employed at Horizon Concrete Construction Ltd., while members from J.M.R. Electric Ltd. did the building’s HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.

The complex recently began welcoming its first residents and is already making a positive impact in the community. Read “From homeless to housed: one woman finds ‘pure joy’ in her new apartment” to learn more about this inspiring housing initiative built by CLAC members.
