AgeCare London Nurses Secure Wage Increases, Higher Premiums, and Paid Reporting Time

LONDON, ON—Registered nurses employed by AgeCare London LTC, a long-term care home in London, Ontario, have unanimously ratified a two-year collective agreement providing wage increases, improved health benefits, higher shift and weekend premiums, and enhanced workplace protections.

The 19 registered nurses are represented by Southwestern Ontario Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 303, which has represented the company's employees since 1992.

The new collective agreement provides a 2.25 percent wage increase effective July 1, 2026, followed by an additional two percent increase on July 1, 2027. The agreement also improves paramedical and psychological benefits, and includes a 30-cent-per-hour increase to both shift and weekend premiums.

A significant achievement in the agreement is the introduction of paid reporting time, ensuring that nurses are compensated for reporting duties at the same rate as their preceding shift. The agreement also provides salary continuation for employees required to quarantine or isolate due to a communicable disease under employer policy, legal requirements, or public health direction.

“We are happy that reporting time is finally being paid,” says Mary Ellen VanderSluis, CLAC representative. “This is a huge win for the registered staff and is long overdue.”

AgeCare London LTC provides long-term residential care and nursing services to seniors in the London, Ontario, community.
