Sunday, August 10, 2025 Advocacy in Action CLAC representatives met with Tom Sparrow, Winnipeg’s first chief construction officer Manitoba Local 152 Last month, Geoff Dueck Thiessen, regional director of CLAC’s Winnipeg Member Centre, and Nathan Koslowsky, representative, had the opportunity to meet with Tom Sparrow, Winnipeg’s first-ever chief construction officer. This important introductory meeting allowed us to share CLAC’s mission, values, and long-standing commitment to supporting construction workers across the city. Our discussion centred around Winnipeg’s social procurement agenda, with a particular focus on how it applies to Phase 2 of the North End Water Pollution Control Centre. It was a constructive and collaborative conversation. We look forward to continued engagement with city leadership as we advocate for fair, inclusive, and worker-focused construction policies for Winnipeg.
