A New Chapter Begins at Meadow Park

After three years of planning, preparation, and anticipation, moving day finally arrived for the residents and staff of Meadow Park in late July.

Meadow Park residents recently moved into their beautiful new long term care home, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. For many CLAC Local 303 members, the move was especially emotional. Some employees have spent most of their working lives at Meadow Park. One staff member reflected on starting there at age 25 and now making this transition at 65.

For these members, Meadow Park has been much more than a workplace. It has been a community, a second home, and a place filled with decades of relationships and memories. Moving day brought excitement and optimism for the future, but also understandable feelings of sadness, uncertainty, and nostalgia.

The new home represents an important investment in long term care in Chatham-Kent. In addition to providing more long term care beds for families who need them, the new facility will create more than 100 new healthcare jobs in the community.

Throughout the transition, CLAC worked to ensure members' rights were protected as employees prepared for the move and adjusted to a new workplace. This included successfully pursuing a policy grievance regarding the process used to award new positions and master lines.

The transition also required an extraordinary effort from staff. While some employees worked at the new home to prepare for residents' arrival, others continued caring for residents and keeping operations running at the existing Meadow Park. Their dedication helped make this milestone possible.

Congratulations to our CLAC Local 303 members on reaching this exciting moment. We are proud to represent the dedicated staff at Meadow Park and look forward to continuing to support them as they settle into their new home and create many more years of memories together.
