A Good Attitude

Work should be more than a paycheque. Make it a meaningful way to improve yourself individually

By Heidi Martens, Representative

A supervisor recently told me that a good attitude is more important than technical skills.

Showing up regularly with a positive outlook and a willingness to work hard was the key to success in his books. Even more important than skills and experience.

Most of us can learn and improve skills we never thought possible if we prioritize our mental outlook. Work can feel like a drag. Or simply a way to pay the bills.

But it can also be a meaningful way to improve yourself individually, learn to work in a team environment, or even to build things that will outlast our own lives and provide services well into the future, like a hospital!

What’s your outlook been like as a new year gets underway? Has your perspective been helping or hindering you find success at work?
