Strathcona Mechanical Workers Approve New Agreement with Wage and Scheduling Improvements

CALGARY, AB—Employees of Strathcona Mechanical Limited ratified a two-year collective agreement providing wage increases and improved working conditions.

The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 63. The union has represented the company’s employees since 1997.

The 36-member group, working on commercial mechanical projects across Calgary and hotel renovations in Banff, voted 89 percent in favour of the agreement. The new contract runs from June 1, 2026, to May 31, 2028, and includes a three percent wage increase at ratification and an additional three percent increase in 2027. Wage rates remain at or near the top of the commercial market in Calgary.

The agreement also includes a reduction in the standard work week from 44 hours to 40 hours, with overtime now applying after eight hours per day or 40 hours per week.

“We are proud to represent this group of employees—they perform excellent work and have played a role on many projects in southern Alberta over the past few decades, and that work will continue,” says Randy Klasen, CLAC representative. “These wage rates are at or near the top of the Calgary market and position the company well to attract and retain the best plumbers in the city. Our relationship with Strathcona management has been built on respect and trust, and this agreement reflects that.”

Strathcona Mechanical provides commercial mechanical services, with employees working on projects across Calgary and surrounding areas, including Banff.
