Velocity Mechanical Workers Secure New Contract with Wage and Benefit Improvements

KITCHENER, ON—Employees of Velocity Mechanical Inc., a mechanical contractor based in Kitchener, Ontario, ratified a three-year collective agreement providing wage increases, improved benefits, and enhanced retirement contributions.

The employees are represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 53. The union has represented the company’s employees since 2011.

The group voted 82 percent in favour of the agreement, which takes effect April 1, 2026. The new contract delivers nearly nine percent total package increases over the term for plumbing, sheet metal, and refrigeration journeypersons, along with strong pension contributions equating to 12.5 percent of hourly wages.

Additional improvements include increased contributions to health care benefits, as well as enhancements to travel compensation, living-out allowances, and vacation pay rates.

“CLAC Local 53 is pleased to deliver this strong settlement,” says Roger Grootenboer, CLAC representative. “The terms provide security and compensation for our members—excellent wages, strong health care benefits, and a solid pension plan they can trust.”

Velocity Mechanical Inc. provides mechanical contracting services, with employees working on plumbing, sheet metal, and refrigeration projects across southwestern Ontario.
