Our structure

CLAC is both a union and also a national organization of 25 affiliated active local unions (or locals).

National affiliation

CLAC is a founding member of Canada Works, a federation of like-minded unions that believe in progressive labour relations. We are not affiliated with the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) because we believe in union choice for workers—something the CLC and most Canadian labour federations don’t allow. 

International affiliation

Internationally, we’re a member of the World Organization of Workers (WOW), which represents over 1.3 million workers in 130 labour unions from over 60 countries. WOW advocates for workers’ rights around the world.
