Student Co-op Position

LOCATION: Cambridge

CLAC has a full-time, eight-month Co-op placement opportunity. This is available for a student who is enrolled in a Co-op Program at a post-secondary education institution, returning to full-time studies, and is interested in the following areas: Labour Relations, Human Resources, Research, and Marketing/Communications. Although students will spend time with a variety of departments, this position focuses on Labour Relations. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate an interest in learning about and/or working in Labour Relations.

 

Duties:

Job duties will focus on various functional areas outlined below.

Labour Relations:

  • Supporting representatives in negotiations, conflict resolution, labour-management meetings, organizing, and special projects

Human Resources:

  • Supporting HR and payroll projects and initiatives
  • Assisting with recruitment processes, including creating job postings as necessary

Research:

  • Responding to research assignments and inputting data into research databases
  • Research for projects with various departments

Marketing & Communications:

  • Designing, researching and printing materials as needed for CLAC publications
  • Working on projects, marketing and social media communications

 

Qualifications/Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Demonstrable organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and SharePoint
  • Customer service experience would be an asset
  • This position also involves travel primarily within Ontario

 

Term and Compensation:

This is a contract position, beginning January 2027 until August 2027. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. The rate of pay is $24.92 per hour. The candidate must have access to a reliable automobile. Business mileage and expenses are reimbursed.

 

Location:

The position will primarily be at our Cambridge Member Centre.

 

Long-Term Opportunity:

Student positions are part of CLAC’s recruiting strategy. Due to growth, CLAC regularly has staff openings in its offices across Canada. A successful student job may lead to future full-time employment with CLAC following completion of studies.
