Congratulations on Choosing Apprenticeship!

An apprenticeship is a great way to learn a skilled trade through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom study.

Some quick facts about apprenticeship in Ontario:

  • 80% of your apprenticeship is on the job training, 20% is completing your in-class training
  • Every trade has different competencies and skills – learn more by visiting Skilled Trades Ontario
  • Hours to complete your apprenticeship vary on the trade but are typically 7,500-9,000 hours (on-site and in-class)
  • An apprenticeship can take anywhere between 3-5 years depending on the trade and availability of training in schools
  • You are responsible to track your hours and complete your Training Standard (Logbook)
  • CLAC represents 200+ construction employers who hire and work in multiple trades – get more information from our Central Jobs team about opportunities in the trades!
