Horganomics Not in BC's Best Interest, CLAC's Executive Director Warns

In Monday's Vancouver Province, CLAC Executive Director Wayne Prins warns of the economic folly of British Columbia's move to limit public construction projects to a handful of unions that represent only about 15 percent of skilled tradespeople in the province.

"There is consensus that the construction industry in B.C. is facing a severe labour shortage in the coming years. Now more than ever before is a time for all hands on deck to meet the demand for construction in this province. Instead of leveraging the entire available workforce, however, the BC government has decided to restrict access to a small portion of it," Prins writes.
