New Contract Makes Matcon Employees among Highest Paid in Excavation and Shoring Industry

Coquitlam, BC—Employees of Matcon Excavation and Shoring Ltd. recently ratified a new three-year contract that makes them among the highest paid workers in the industry.

Matcon employees are represented by Construction and Allied Workers Union, CLAC Local 68.

The new collective agreement provides them with a 7.5 percent wage increase over the term (4 percent in year 1, 2 percent in year 2, and 1.5 percent in year 3). The employees will also see an increase to their safety gear allowance in addition to improved contract language.

“This agreement provides solid gains for our hard-working members employed by Matcon,” says Ben Timmermans, CLAC representative.
