New Contract Provides Wage, Benefits Improvements for Caressant Care Employees

Harriston, ON—Registered nurses employed by Caressant Care in Harriston voted in favour of renewing their collective agreement for two years.

The employees are members of Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 304.

Along with annual 1.5 percent wage increases over the term, the new contract provides employees with improvements to their benefits plan, including vision care, life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance. Improvements were also made to weekend and shift premiums, uniform allowances, and responsibility payment. In addition, employees can now substitute recognized statutory holidays with ones that are relevant to their culture or religious observations.

“This was certainly a difficult round of negotiations because of COVID-19,” says  Michael Glockner, CLAC representative. “However, the parties were able to achieve a solid outcome in the end.”
