Gedco Employees Give Unanimous Support for New Contract

Brantford, ON—Employees of Brantford-based Gedco Excavating Ltd. voted unanimously to accept a settlement for a renewed collective agreement negotiated by their union, Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 6.

The three-year contract provides employees with several monetary improvements, including annual wage increases of 2.25 percent over the term, pension contributions increased to $4.10 per hour, and a new bonus system with a value of up to 2 percent. In addition, the settlement provides an improved policy for paid overtime and premiums, 1.5 times the rate of all-night work and Saturday work, and an annual boot allowance.

“We are pleased to deliver a fair and positive settlement for our members,” says Roger Grootenboer, CLAC representative. “It is good to see our members rewarded along with the growth of Gedco. This settlement brings our members both strong wages and retirement savings as well as the prospect of strong job security.”
