Maple City Employees Gain Wage and Other Improvements with New Contract

Chatham, ON—Local 303 members working at Maple City Residence Ltd., a local retirement home, unanimously ratified a new collective agreement providing them with wage and other improvements.

The three-year agreement includes wage increases of six percent over the term. In addition, it provides improvements to health benefits coverage, pension contributions, the weekend premium, and starting wage rates. Employees will also now benefit from a uniform allowance as well as improvements to contract language.

“This is a great contract for our members,” says Ryan Griffioen, representative. “The bargaining committee did an excellent job bringing forward their fellow members’ priorities in negotiations and reaching a fair settlement with their employer.”

Maple City Residence is a 52-bed assisted living facility in Chatham owned by Comfort of Living. Local 303 has represented the employees since 1983.
