Taylor Electric Employees Unanimously Ratify First Contract

Belle River, ON—Electricians employed by Taylor Electric Inc. voted unanimously to accept a settlement for a collective agreement. The settlement was the first negotiated by their union, Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 53.

The three-year contract provides for several improvements, including annual wage increases of $1 per hour with associated proportional increases for vacation pay, statutory holiday pay, and pension contributions. In addition, the settlement provides an improved policy for paid overtime and premiums, paid time for mandatory health and safety training, and an annual boot allowance.

“We are pleased to deliver a fair and positive settlement for our newest members,” says Roger Grootenboer, CLAC representative. “More and more employees in Essex County are seeing the value and improvements of a CLAC contract and representation.”
