Wages, Benefits Improve with New Contract for Mapleridge Employees

Pickering, ON—Employees of Mapleridge Mechanical Contracting Inc., based in Pickering, ratified a new three-year collective agreement providing them with improvements to wages and benefits.

The 60 employees have been represented by Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52, since April 2015.

The agreement includes total package increases of approximately 12 percent over the term. Premiums were negotiated for both forepersons and lead hands. The contract also includes improvements to travel and personal protective equipment provisions.

“This was a very productive round of negotiations, and the employees were pleased with the results,” says J. D. Alkema, CLAC regional director. “The new contract also provides a path forward for the employer to successfully bid on and obtain new work.”
