Processor, Data and Remittance

CLAC is seeking an enthusiastic, permanent full-time Data and Remittance Processor in our Edmonton, Alberta member centre to perform the remittance processing function. This individual is responsible for the accurate processing of member data and financial data within the database, which can include complex data entry and/or manipulations of remittance reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handles incoming cheques and data pertaining to remittance processing, which includes;
    • Scanning or making copies of cheques or remittance support data, and files according to policies and standards
    • Reconciling the data totals to the cheque amounts and entering cheque information into the database prior to the cheques going to the Accounting Administrator/ Accounting Manager for deposit and transfer
    • Communicating with signatory companies requesting additional information where required
    • Allocating incoming files for the department into the appropriate processing queue
  • Processes and enters remittance data, which involves:
    • Preparation of a variety of remittance data formats for entry into the system, including advanced excel file manipulation created in consultation with the Senior Processor/Coordinator or Manager
    • Batch preparation within the database, including file import or manual entry of data
      • Reconciles member information to signatory provided information to ensure accurate data posting
      • Identify and analyze errors and/or exceptions in the data as they arise throughout batch preparation and processing, notifying the Senior Processor/Coordinator, or Manager of the discrepancies
      • Ensures that the cheque data that has been entered reconciles to the final remittance data in the batch prior to posting
    • Communicates any calculation or entry issues to the Senior Processor/ Coordinator, or Manager for further investigation
      • Assists with trouble-shooting issues, answering questions from internal and external stakeholders related to finance and remittance data, and running searches and reports as needed
      • Additional duties as required

    Qualifications:

    • Diploma in Business Administration, Finance/Accounting or similar would be an asset
    • Advanced Excel knowledge is required
    • Prior experience in a same or similar role is preferred

    Skills and Experience:

    • A minimum of 6 months experience in a similar role
    • Critical thinker with ability to assist in resolving problems and discrepancies
    • Advanced computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Data manipulation abilities
    • Excellent time management skills including ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
    • Organizational skills and an advanced level of attention to detail
    • Effective written and oral communication skills
    • Professionalism, tact and reasoning capabilities, ensuring confidentiality of the data that is received
    • Must be able to learn new systems/processes quickly and adapt to change
    • Proven track record of assisting in nurturing win-win relationships
    • Great interpersonal skills and ability to work in both an independent environment and within the CLAC team
