Vision Care

The vision care benefit for members and eligible dependents is determined by your collective agreement and/or your wallet identification card.

Eye Exams

Eye exams are covered (up to $95) once every 24 consecutive months. Your provincial plan may also cover eye exams and would then be the first payer.

Available Group Options and Your Coverage

The available group options for vision care coverage (exclusive of eye exams) is one of the following amounts:

Eligible Expenses

Purchases and fitting of prescription glasses or elective contact lenses, as well as repairs, to the maximum amount shown on your wallet identification card during any:

  • 12 consecutive months for persons under age 18
  • 24 consecutive months for persons age 18 and over

If contact lenses are required to treat an eligible medical condition, or if vision in the better eye can be improved to a 20/40 level with contact lenses but not with glasses, $100 above the maximum shown on your wallet identification card during any:

  • 12 consecutive months for persons under age 18
  • 24 consecutive months for persons age 18 and over
