Sarnia, ON—Employees of Vision ’74 Rest Home voted unanimously to accept a two-year renewal collective agreement yesterday. The employees are members of Southwestern Ontario Health Care and Service Workers Local 303.
The new agreement includes increases to wage rates and employer contributions to the pension plan as well as improvements to benefits coverage, the vacation grid, and contract language.
“We are pleased to achieve such a positive settlement,” says Brendan Kooy, Ontario representative and lead negotiator. “Caring for the elderly is work that is often overlooked or underestimated, and it was important to fairly recognize the effort that our members put into their jobs every day.”
