Saskatoon—After a lengthy wait, the Saskatchewan Court of Queen’s Bench recently rendered its decision on a judicial review application by unions trying to stop CLAC from exercising its democratic right to represent construction workers in Saskatchewan.
The court dismissed the application and upheld the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board’s decision, made earlier in 2011.
“The court’s decision reaffirms that we have proved beyond any doubt that we have the right to represent workers, bargain collectively, and advocate for our members,” says Brad Bent, Saskatchewan director. “This is a victory not just for CLAC but for all Saskatchewan construction workers who have been denied their charter right to freely choose union representation for almost twenty years.”
