Ryder Employees Ratify New Agreement

DATE: January 05, 2012

Edmonton—Local 56 members employed as heavy equipment technicians (HETs) at Ryder Truck Rental voted in favour of a new collective agreement effective January 1, 2012.

HETs employed by Ryder maintain and repair on-road heavy duty engines and chassis for fleet vehicles.

The new contract includes semi-annual wage increases, premium and schedule improvements, new classifications, and recognition for additional training and skills development.

“We are pleased about the improvements this renewal agreement provides,” says Mike Riggs, Ryder employee and president of Local 56. “We hope that Ryder can use this to help attract the mechanics (HETs) we need in such a tight labour market. This new three year contract should help build a competitive, quality team at Ryder Edmonton.”
